Mr Gary Whitworth is the former Chief Fire Officer of the Kent
Fire & Rescue Service. A first-class college prize-winner on
Fire Safety, former Advisor to HM Government and holder of four
European awards and Kent Medal for Outstanding Service.
Mr Whitworth is currently the Vice President of the Institute
of Fire Safety Managers and, as Chief Fire Officer for Kent Fire
& Rescue Service, was responsible for all fire and safety aspects
of a comprehensive fire area covering 1500 square miles, with a
population of 1.5 million people and a total of 66 Fire Stations.
Total manpower was nearly 2000 fire-fighters along with ancillary
and support staff.
Career Service
Gary Whitworth spent 30 years in the British Fire Service serving
in 5 Fire Brigades and in every senior rank in virtually all areas
of responsibility up to and including responsibility as Chief Fire
Officer of one of the largest Fire Brigades in the UK. He is a former
Vice President of the Institution of Fire Engineers, a Governing
council member of the Commonwealth and Overseas Fire Services Association,
Governing Council member of the Chief and Assistant Chief Fire Officers
Association and member on various British Standards and Home Office
Committees.
Gary Whitworth is an international prize-winner on "Fire Ventilation
in Industrial Buildings". During his career, he was formerly
the head of Fire Safety Engineering for both Surrey and West Sussex
County Councils and a former Secretary and Chairman of various Fire
Liaison Panels in the South East of England. Upon leaving the Kent
County Council, Gary was awarded the Kent Medal for Outstanding
Service. Gary Whitworth is a qualified Expert Witness.
Specialist Experience
He has presented numerous fire and safety papers to international
audiences, and has had published several articles on fire and general
safety subjects both in the UK and in Europe.
Gary is a former lecturer to the Chemical Industries Association.
In 1985 he was appointed to the Anglo/French InterGovernmental Safety
Authority to advise the Channel Tunnel Commission on the fire and
safety aspects of the Channel Tunnel.
How Fire-Stat was formed
The company was formed by Gary, following his retirement from Kent
Fire & Rescue due the many requests received for his services.
As Managing Director of Fire-Stat International, Gary has promoted
the company as a specialist international fire and safety consultancy.
The Company has a number of long standing clients. The Company
has carried out hundreds of assignments on behalf other Major Companies
throughout the United Kingdom and abroad.
Specialist areas of work include Fire Risk Assessments, Fire Surveys,
Disputes between individual Companies and both Fire and Local Authorities.
General Fire Safety Training and all types of Fire Safety Advice.
Gary is a Senior Examiner on the CFPA (Europe) Diploma, the only
Pan European Fire Safety Qualification available in Europe.
Fire-Stat International is an Award winning company and is also
registered on the list of Expert Witnesses.
